A bench warrant was issued Dec. 30 for a Muldrow man who is jailed in Sebastian County, Ark.
Brandon Allen Cardwell was charged in Sequoyah County District Court in Sallisaw on Dec. 30 with grand larceny for the theft of a Glock gun and being in possession of a firearm while on supervised probation.
Based on the report about the stolen gun and stolen business checks, the investigator with the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office was told the suspect had been arrested on Dec. 12 in Fort Smith on outstanding warrants. The investigation revealed the gun had been pawned by the suspect at a Fort Smith pawn shop and several of the stolen checks had been written but were stopped at the bank.
The investigator spoke to Cardwell at the Sebastian County jail, and Cardwell admitted he took the items, according to the report. Cardwell told the investigator he was addicted to a prescription medicine but was trying to get his life back on track and was seeking help.
Cardwell’s bond in Sequoyah County was set at $7,500.
