The staff of People Inc.’s TSET Healthy Living Program donated a blessing box to the Liberty community March 12 and dedicated it in Madi Cate Moreland’s name.

Madi Cate is the daughter of Tra Moreland and Paul “Shorty” Moreland. Madi was diagnosed with leukemia (at the age of 6) in February 2019 and passed away very unexpectedly on March 13, 2019 She was a student at Liberty Public Schools and organizers stated that she was loved and is missed by her family, community and classmates.

Liberty Public Schools’ SWAT (Student Wellness Activity Team) students held a food drive several weeks before the dedication to assure the Blessing Box would remain stocked. SWAT members also painted and placed Madi’s rainbows on each side of the box.

The blessing box is at the entrance of the school but is available to anyone in the community. "Madi Cate has touched so many lives and hearts in and around this community so we felt that dedicating the box in her name was perfect because it is called a “Blessing Box” and that is exactly what Madi is: “a blessing” to so many!" stated organizers.

People Inc.’s TSET Healthy Living Program staff is working with several other communities in the area to make sure all have access to food and encourage the phrase “take what you need and leave what you can.”

Program staff would also like to thank Justin Dyer for assisting in the assembly of the box.
