Town of Vian Loses Three Employees

The Town of Vian lost three employees last month, but town officials said at least one opening was soon filled.

Town Administrator Keith Boshers and Vian Police Chief Mark Fisher confirmed that two police officers have moved on. Fisher said Jonathan “Lucky” Huff and Gary Summers have moved on to other jobs. One officer went to the Adair County Sheriff’s office and one officer moved on to Morris in Okmulgee County.

Boshers said the officers left in good standing, and simply moved on to jobs with better pay.

Fisher said he hoped to have another police officer hired by Friday (March 2). He said the police staff has seven officers when all positions are filled.

Boshers confirmed that one town employee in the street department was dismissed on Feb. 6.

“He didn’t show up,” for work Boshers said. “He abandoned his position. He had some personal issues.”

Boshers was not at liberty to release the name of the town employee.
