Five of Seven Sallisaw Stores Pass Test

The Sallisaw NOW Coalition along with Cherokee Nation Responsible Beverage campaign conducted compliance checks in local convenience stores in the City of Sallisaw on Nov. 16.

Taylor Chadwell, with the Sallisaw NOW Coalition, said, “We'd like to congratulate those stores that passed. They are Casey's General Store, Diamond Express, Pit Stop on Cherokee, EZ Mart and Quick Stop Market on Hwy 59. Thank you for not selling alcohol to minors, always ID-ing and helping keep our county safe. We appreciate you guys and keep up the good work!”

Those stores will receive certificates of appreciation, Chadwell said.

Of the seven stores checked, two did not pass. They received verbal warnings and information on how to train clerks not to sell alcohol to minors.
