Burn Ban Continued

Sequoyah County Commissioners continued the burn ban in the county through Dec. 13. They approved the ban at the regular meeting Monday morning.

Steve Rutherford, Sequoyah County Emergency Management director, said that, although weather persons are predicting rain on Monday evening and Tuesday, it may not be enough to lift the burn ban. He said at least a half-inch of rain is needed, but the prediction is for less.

Firefighters and the State Wildlife Department were battling a wildfire blaze on Jackson Mountain, northwest of Marble City, on Monday morning, he reported.
