Checotah Man Injured in Crash North of Sallisaw


A Checotah man was flown to a Tulsa hospital Thursday evening after a crash north of Sallisaw on County Road 4620.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) reported Jason Sanders, 34, was transported by Life Flight to St. Francis Medical Center in Tulsa where he was admitted in stable condition with head and internal injuries.

The OHP reported the crash occurred at about 7:51 p.m. about four miles north of Sallisaw.

The crash occurred when a 1962 Chevrolet truck, driven by Charles Cameron, 59, of Tahlequah, and a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by Amanda Crawford, 40, of Sallisaw were stopped on the county road. The truck had become disabled and Crawford had stopped to assist.

Sanders’ 2014 Ford Fusion struck the truck then the Cavalier, causing the Ford to run off the road to the left and overturn one time.

Cameron, Catherine Cameron, 60, of Tahlequah, a passenger in the truck, and Crawford were not injured the OHP reported.
