Commissioners Approve REAP Grant Application

The Sequoyah County board of commissioners approved a resolution authorizing the application for financial aid from the Rural Economic Action Plan (REAP), among other agenda items, at their meeting Tuesday.

The board also approved school resource officer agreements between the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Department and schools in Brushy, Liberty, Moffett, Central High and Gans.

The commissioners tabled a discussion regarding a bid for webpage design for the county by Lighthouse Web Design and Marketing. They also approved a memorandum of agreement between the Cherokee Nation and Sequoyah County to provide construction, improvement, right-of-way acquisitions, and/or utility relocations for roads and/or bridges within the county.

The panel also approved a $10,000 JAG-LLE grant for the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Department, as well as the plan to surplus a 1987 Hahn Pumper Truck from the McKey Fire Department and transfer it to the Wewoka Fire Department.
