A Tulsa man, in the Sequoyah County jail on an injury to property charge, was charged Wednesday in Sequoyah County District Court with assault and battery on a police officer.

The investigating deputy reported Max Robert Ernst, 32, allegedly struck a detention officer on the left side of the face with a closed fist. The deputy reported Ernst allegedly had made sexual comments to a female detention officer. The male detention officer then went to tell Ernst not to say such things to the female officer. According to the report, when the male officer entered Ernst’s cell, Ernst “refused to listen and then struck (the detention officer) in the left side of the face.”

Ernst was tased and then put in restraints.

Ernst’s bond on the assault and battery charge was set at $10,000.
