Vian Woman Held without Bond

A Vian woman remains in the Sequoyah County jail in Sallisaw where she is being held without bond for the death of her husband.

Michelle Scoggins, 45, is accused of stabbing her husband, Billy Mar, 48, on Oct. 11. Mar died the next day in a Fort Smith hospital. Before his death he told police that his wife stabbed him in the abdomen with a filet knife while she was cooking.

Vian Police Chief Ted Johnson said police were called to a home on Benton Line Road shortly before midnight on Oct. 11, where they found Mar conscious and talking. It is believed the stabbing may have been the result of a domestic disturbance, he said.
