CASC Bookstores Offer Tax Breaks

The Carl Albert State College (CASC) Poteau campus bookstore will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday to accommodate students who will be moving into the dorms that day.

Terri Hardin, CASC Bookstore manager, pointed out that the Oklahoma Tax-Free Weekend will be taking place, and therefore clothing purchased with cash, check, debit or credit cards on Aug. 5 and 6 at the Poteau bookstore will be tax-free.

The Sallisaw Bookstore will also have tax-free purchases available on Friday, however will not be open on Saturday.

Hardin said the tax-free opportunity will not apply if using financial aid to purchase apparel.

Hardin said, “The tax break does not cover textbooks or supplies, but we hope being available Saturday will be helpful to CASC students as they arrive at campus. Everyone is encouraged to stop by on Aug. 5 and 6 to take advantage of the tax-free apparel purchases, plus beat the crowd on purchasing books and school supplies.”
