Vian School Runoff Election Set for April 7

A school runoff election will be held for Board of Education Office No. 5 in Vian School District on
April 7.  Cindy Osburn, Sequoyah County Election Board secretary, said state law requires the runoff election if no candidate in the regular annual school election receives more than 50 percent of the total votes cast. Osburn said Vian School Board of Education candidates Mike Cobb and Casey Sullivan received the highest number of votes in the Feb. 10 election and therefore will meet in the runoff election on April 7. Mike Cobb received 230 votes in the election, while Casey Sullivan received 185 votes. A total of 494 votes were cast in the election. Voters who are registered and reside at an address within the geographical boundaries of the Vian School District are eligible to vote in the runoff election. For more information, contact the Sequoyah County Election Board at 918-775-2614.
