U.S. Congressman Markwayne Mullin will hold a press conference at the Tulsa Port of Catoosa at 1:30 Friday to discuss the impact of the Water Resource Reform & Development Act (WRRDA). Mullin is a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, authors of the WRRDA bill, which will be sent to the President in the near future for signature. The bill amends the WRRDA of 1986 to modify provisions authorizing the Cherokee Nation to design and construct hydroelectric generating facilities at the W.D. Mayo Lock and Dam on the Arkansas River, south of Muldrow. It also allows the tribe to market the electricity generated from the facility. Mullin will discuss key elements of the bill that will help ensure the viability of both the port and the navigation system. The event will follow the Port Managers' Industry Briefing with a special update on WRRDA by Mullin. Stay tuned to KXMX for all the latest news, or visit www.kxmx.com.
