City Awards Sports Complex Contract
The Sallisaw City Commission Tuesday morning awarded a construction contract to Ross Construction of Muskogee for Sallisaw’s new Sports Complex. The contract was for $3.9 million. The dirt work is expected to begin within three to four weeks. City Manager Bill Baker said the goal is to have kids playing at the complex by next spring. In the meantime, the city is calling for bids on a 12-inch water line to the sports complex. Baker said the water line must be in place to keep newly-laid sod alive. This meeting and the awarding of the sports complex bid was the last official act of outgoing Mayor Shannon Vann. Newly-elected Mayor Julie Ferguson will be sworn into office next month.
