Identity Of Body Not Released

According to Sequoyah County Undersheriff Roger Fuller, at around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday morning a woman walking along the Hwy 64 overpass discovered a body near the Moffett stockyards.

The man, believed to be homeless, is in his 50's.  The undersheriff says they have identified the man, but are looking for family to notify before releasing his name.

Steve Martin, who stays at the Salvation Army, says hot temperatures can cause problems for homeless people.  However, the cause of the man's death is not known at this time.  No foul play is suspected by authorities, but the body is being sent to the state crime lab.

Captain Russell Clay with the Salvation Army said they are bringing people into the Salvation Army Diner who don't have homes or are hot and can't get anywhere.  They provide them with water to drink and allow them to get cooled down.
