City Commissioner Incumbents Unopposed; Three School Board Races On Upcoming Ballots

The filing period closed last week for county school board positions and city commissioner seats.

In the Sallisaw City Commission race, both Ward 1 and Ward 3 incumbents, Ronnie Lowe and Julian Mendiola, respectively, were unopposed, therefore no election will be held.

On the Feb. 12 ballot will be the Gans, Office No. 2 seat, which is an unexpired term that needs to be filled as soon as possible, according to the Sequoyah County Election Board office. Larry Stogner will face off against Mary Ann Cosner for that seat.

For Gans Office No. 4, Jana Morris and Robbie Gipson will vie for that seat during the regular school board election on April 2, and George Lawson Jr. and Jerry Speir will face each other for the Liberty Office 2 seat in April.

Amanda Trudeau-Hatcher was unopposed in her seat on the Sallisaw School Board.

The following candidates were unopposed after filing for their respective school board seats: Robert Vinson, Belfonte Office 2; David Philpot, Brushy Office 2; Greg Walton, Central Office 4; Cody Sloan, Gore Office 4; Reba Rodgers, Marble City Office 3; Dowen Green, Muldrow Office 4; Jerry Dewayne Brooks, Roland Office 4; and Ken Pack, Vian Office 4.
