Although the Sequoyah County Sheriff's department discovered a body in a shallow grave near Muldrow on Wednesday evening, it is not believed that foul play was involved.
According to reports, an elderly man at the residence where the body was found admitted to burying his wife of approximately 60 years after she recently died from natural causes. He allegedly stated that he wanted to be near her and he also mentioned financial reasons.
The medical examiner has been contacted to help determine the actual cause of death in the case as the investigation continues.
It is a misdemeanor to improperly dispose of or bury a body.
