City Offices Reopening with COVID-19 Safety Precautions

City offices around the county are making plans to reopen and are also implementing changes in procedures to ensure the safety of visitors and employees.

The Sallisaw City Hall will reopen on Monday. Customers will notice that remodeling has taken place while the building was closed to the public during the pandemic. Upon reopening, all customers will now enter through the front door. A handicap parking space has been added on Choctaw, just west of the city hall entrance.

At this time, customer access will be limited to the lobby area only. City officials ask that customers practice safe distancing, as much as possible, while in the lobby. Anyone who has symptoms of COVID-19, or who has been in close contact with someone who has symptoms of COVID-19, is asked to refrain from coming to city hall.

Sallisaw city officials note that during the pandemic, customers have been great about using the online payment methods and/or the outside drop box at city hall. Those options remain in effect and customers are encouraged to continue utilizing them.

The City Hall building in Gore is also opening Monday for the court clerk ONLY. Visitors are asked to use the door on the right side of the building (closest to the fire department side) to pay fines or set up a payment plan.

Customers are being asked to remember to follow guidelines from Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding social distancing, wearing masks and frequent hand-washing.

In Gore, if there are more than two people inside the building, please wait outside until space is available inside the building. As a reminder, Gore officials want people to know that the court clerk’s office is the only one open. All GPWA payments are still required to be made via phone, drop box or mail.

The town of Roland has not yet decided when it will reopen, but it would likely be mid- to late June before courts will resume, according to city officials.

Muldrow’s City Hall remained open during the coronavirus pandemic, with drive-through service available while the lobby was closed. The lobby will reopen to the public on June 1, a city official said.

Vian’s city offices reopened May 1, an official said, and Monday’s city council meeting will be open to the public.
