Muldrow Church Offers Tour of Christmas

One area church continues to offer a family event that immerses visitors in the Christmas story.

Eastside Freewill Baptist Church of Muldrow will present its eighth annual live outdoor Tour of Christmas from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, Saturday, Dec. 9 and Sunday, Dec. 10. The church’s activities center is located on U.S. 64B at Interstate 40.

Pastor Anthony Williams said visitors will be transported by hayride through the biblical scenes on the property portraying the life of Jesus while here on earth.

“When you first get to our activities center, we have it set up like the town of Bethlehem,” Williams explained. “We hand out free hot chocolate and cookies to those coming through. Then you get to experience a concept of what a busy town of Bethlehem might have been like and then journey with Mary and Joseph.”

That journey includes 12 vignettes of the life, ministry, crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, featuring actors, live animals and narration. New scenes have been added or some scenes updated, so that even past visitors will have a different experience, he added.

Williams said the event focuses on providing the family unit a place to experience the sights and sounds of Christmas together.

More than 120 volunteers – and nearly the regular attendance of the church – work tirelessly to be able to produce the annual Tour of Christmas, according to Williams.

He gladly gives a shout-out to the church membership and their dedication in coming together to offer the event to the community.

“Faithfully, without fail, they are out there braving the elements to put this on,” Williams said. “And they do it for the reason of wanting to provide a positive atmosphere for the families in our communities to come in and enjoy something like this.”

Williams explained that the Tour of Christmas might differ from other drive-through nativities in that visitors are out in the elements on the hayride, immersed in the sights and smells and sounds of the season. He encourages guests to dress warmly for the weather; trailers will not run in the event of rainfall.

Admission is free; donations will be accepted.
